Ingredients
Lasagna noodles (oven-ready or pre-cooked according to package instructions)
1 Jar of Big Tone's Homemade Marinara Sauce + more for afterwards
Ground beef or Italian sausage (optional)
1 cup ricotta cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1 cup shredded provolone cheese
1 cup shredded fontina cheese
Spinach (optional)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare the Meat Sauce (Optional):
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
Add ground beef or Italian sausage to the skillet. Cook until browned and fully cooked through. Drain excess fat if needed.
Stir in Big Tone's Homemade Marinara Sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Let the sauce simmer for a few minutes.
Prepare the Cheeses:
In a bowl, mix together ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, shredded Parmesan cheese, shredded provolone cheese, and shredded fontina cheese.
Assemble the Lasagna:
Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Place three lasagna noodles on top of the sauce, slightly overlapping.
Spread a layer of the cheese mixture over the noodles.
Spoon a layer of the meat sauce over the cheese mixture. (If using).
Repeat the layers: noodles, cheese mixture, meat sauce, until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of marinara sauce on top.
Bake the Lasagna:
Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
Serve:
Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
Serve hot.
